Why is the balance between Omega-3 and Omega-6 so important?
Scientific research has shown that the optimum ratio of Omega-3 to Omega-6 balance falls in the range of 1:3 to 1:6 (Omega-3 : Omega-6) for optimum pet health. However, many generic and even premium pet foods contain a much higher ratio of Omega-6s, falling between 1:10 and 1:20. Supplementing with fish oil is essential to bring the Omega-3 level up to the optimum ratio.
Living in the pristine, icy cold waters of the Bering Sea, wild Alaskan pollock is an excellent and sustainable natural source of fish oil rich in Omega-3 fatty acids. It is also used worldwide as the primary source for high quality white fish products.
Wild pollock oil boasts an Omega-3 ratio in the range of 13 to 14. It is among the highest Omega 3 ratios in natural fish oils—close to wild salmon oil in efficacy, and far higher than farmed salmon oil (which has a typical Omega-3/6 ratio range as low as 2 to 3).
Wild pollock oil is a more affordable natural Omega-3 fatty acid supplement than wild salmon oil. There are additional health benefits to supplementing with salmon oil, but if you are primarily interested in a healthy skin and beautiful coat, pollock oil is a more cost effective choice.
Grizzly uses only wild caught pollock oil from the frigid Arctic waters of Alaska. Grizzly Pollock Oil provides the long chain Omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA, which typically have 7 to 10 times higher bioavailability (efficacy) than ALA (alpha lipoic acid) from flax or other plant sources.
Grizzly Pollock Oil is gently extracted in a state-of-the-art production plant that handles nothing but high quality, human-grade fish products. A totally enclosed and continuous in-line extraction process ensures the oil is kept away from air until it is pumped into your pet’s food bowl thus maintaining potency.
